An evocative celebration of the Hommage collection, once conceived by Mr. Roger Dubuis as a salute to the watchmakers who shaped his journey. Today, the tribute turns inward—honouring the master himself.

This modern revival arrives as a strictly limited edition of 28 pieces, crafted entirely in-house. Each watch unites original and remanufactured components, all refined to meet the prestigious Poinçon de Genève standard. The design is layered and expressive, showcasing Mr. Dubuis’ signature preference: the biretrograde display. It is both a technical marvel and an aesthetic hallmark, embodying his passion for storytelling through horology.

The Hommage La Placide invites collectors on a journey spanning three decades. Authentic elements from the past are reimagined through a contemporary lens, resulting in a 30th anniversary creation that reflects the Maison’s heritage and the enduring vision of its founder. At its core lies the Calibre 1472, a movement that bridges eras by combining restored and newly manufactured parts, celebrating both tradition and innovation.

This series resonates with the recently unveiled Excalibur Monobalancier Biretrograde Calendar, offering enthusiasts two distinct yet connected interpretations of the Maison’s heritage. The inspiration harks back to 1996, when the original Hommage was launched as a gesture of gratitude to mentors and peers. Now, the homage is directed to Roger Dubuis himself, blending his beloved perpetual calendar complication with the biretrograde display, while reflecting his lifelong devotion to restoration and artistry. The name “La Placide” recalls the childhood nickname given to Mr. Dubuis during his scouting days—a symbol of his calm spirit and quiet wisdom, qualities that defined his career and influence in the watchmaking world.

Technically, the watch revives the RD14 calibre, the Maison’s first in-house automatic movement, and pairs it with the RD72 perpetual calendar module. Together they form the RD1472, a modern construction of 307 components, adorned with fifteen distinct finishing techniques. From Geneva stripes to mirror polishing, every detail underscores the virtuosity of the Maison’s artisans. The movement proudly bears the Poinçon de Genève, a seal of excellence that has accompanied Roger Dubuis creations since the beginning.

The dial itself is a layered composition, narrating complexity through five distinct strata: rhodium-brushed flange, mother-of-pearl calendar arcs, a lacquered “Leman Blue” plate inspired by Lake Geneva, counters with refined circular brushing, and a moonphase crafted in aventurine with golden moons. Encased in 18K pink gold and paired with a blue leather strap, the Hommage La Placide is both a technical achievement and a poetic tribute. Alongside the Excalibur Biretrograde Calendar, it marks the Maison’s 30th anniversary by celebrating the vision of its founder and the artistry of biretrograde watchmaking.
