Czapek & Cie expands its Antarctique Mount Erebus series with three new all-gold models.

Building on the acclaim of its sport-chic high-horology line and driven by the in-house SXH5 automatic movement, these additions highlight the fusion of exquisite gemstones and masterful watchmaking.

Named after Antarctica’s active Mount Erebus—renowned for emitting microscopic gold particles—the collection pays tribute to the raw power of volcanic geology. Just as molten forces reveal hidden treasures beneath the Earth’s crust, these watches transform rare materials into horological art.

The first creation is the Antarctique Mount Erebus Lapis Lazuli in rose gold, featuring a dial hewn from deep-blue lapis lazuli flecked with pyrite. Alongside it comes the Antarctique Mount Erebus Falcon Eye, also in rose gold, with a dial cut from falcon eye quartz that shimmers in shades of blue and gray.

Rounding out the trio is the Antarctique Mount Erebus Green Meteor in yellow gold, showcasing a lacquered green Gibeon meteorite dial. This variant builds on last year’s popular steel edition, adding warmth and richness to the extraterrestrial texture of the Widmanstätten patterns.

“When I first saw these stones in their raw state at our partner Gemmes-Tech, I was captivated by their hues,” recalls Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek & Cie. “The cosmic geometry of meteorite, the golden sparkles in lapis lazuli, and the falcon eye’s iridescence are nature’s masterpieces. Shaping them into dials is a delicate challenge, and it’s that fragility that brings each piece to life.”

Czapek’s guiding motto, “We Collect Rare People,” extends to its choice of materials. Every dial is unique: lapis lazuli must exhibit a vivid electric blue with minimal calcite or pyrite inclusions, while falcon eye quartz demands an intricate fibrous structure preserved through millions of years of mineral transformation. Falcon eye, sourced from South Africa, is notoriously brittle—only one in five slices meets the brand’s standards. Czapek embraces the irregular stripes and natural inclusions, celebrating imperfections that lend each watch its individual character and vitality.

The Green Meteor dial, crafted from Namibian Gibeon meteorite, reveals crystalline Widmanstätten patterns through acid etching and a translucent green lacquer. After the steel edition drew widespread attention, Czapek introduces this yellow-gold variant to amplify the meteorite’s depth and enrich its green-blue hues with a warmer glow.

All three dials are produced in partnership with Swiss atelier Gemmes-Tech. Launched in 2024, the Antarctique Mount Erebus line unites noble metals, contemporary sport-chic design and the fully in-house SXH5 caliber. Production is capped at 10 pieces per year for the Lapis Lazuli and Falcon Eye models, with the Green Meteor limited to just 8 units, ensuring exclusivity for collectors.
