Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling has partnered with football sensation Erling Haaland to unveil a celestial-inspired collection of watches: the Erling Haaland Signature Chronomat. Featuring dials crafted from ancient meteorite, the collection bridges cosmic rarity with athletic excellence in a trio of limited-edition models.

The collaboration marks Breitling’s first use of Muonionalusta meteorite, a material believed to be over 4.5 billion years old and sourced from glacial terrains in northern Sweden. Each dial showcases the meteorite’s Widmanstätten pattern, a crystalline structure formed through millennia of cooling in deep space—a visual that Breitling says underscores the collection’s uniqueness.

First introduced in 1983, the Chronomat was Breitling’s return to mechanical chronographs at a time when quartz ruled the wrist. Inspired by a watch created for the Italian aerial squadron, Frecce Tricolori, the Chronomat brought robust proportions, a rotating bezel with four rider tabs, and the instantly recognizable rouleaux bracelet.

Breitling’s newest release is a celebration of both stellar materials and a star athlete. Co-designed with pro footballer Erling Haaland, the collection features two limited-edition models: the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 in stainless steel and platinum, capped at 500 pieces, and the Chronomat B01 42 in 18k red gold, limited to just 250. Both models showcase meteorite dials—meaning no two watches are alike.

A third model, limited to only five pieces, was designed exclusively for Haaland and his inner circle. This super-exclusive timepiece features personalized engravings, including Haaland’s name, jersey number, and an image of his signature goal celebration—referred to as the “Lotus pose.”

Breitling says Haaland was involved throughout the design process, selecting the Chronomat model and overseeing the choice of dial and case materials. “I wanted something one of a kind,” the striker said in a statement. “The Chronomat just clicked. It’s clean and bold, and the meteorite dial means no two watches are the same.”

Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, likened Haaland’s playing style to something otherworldly. “Erling plays like he’s from another planet. So when we discussed the concept, the idea of using a meteorite dial felt fitting—it’s as rare and powerful as he is.”

Both Haaland Signature editions stay true to that spirit of technical mastery and visual impact. The Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 Erling Haaland features a meteorite dial set in a stainless-steel case with a platinum bezel, accented by a red-gold GMT hand and Haaland’s initials on the central seconds hand. The caseback is engraved “ONE OF 500” and “ERLING HAALAND 9” surrounding an engraving of Haaland in his signature goal-celebration pose. The watch pairs with either a classic steel rouleaux bracelet or a black rouleaux-style rubber strap.

The Chronomat B01 42 Erling Haaland ramps things up with an 18k red-gold case, meteorite dial, and black chronograph subdials. Inside, the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 offers a 70-hour power reserve, visible through a sapphire-crystal caseback engraved with “ONE OF 250” and again Haaland’s number 9. It also includes Haaland’s initials on the central chronograph seconds hand and is offered on either black rubber or 18k red-gold rouleaux.

Rounding out the collection is a super-exclusive “ONE OF 5” edition created for Haaland and his circle. Crafted in 18k red gold, it features the meteorite dial, a transparent caseback revealing the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 movement, and bespoke case-side engraving of his name and jersey number. The caseback also displays an image of Haaland in his goal-celebration Lotus pose. A private tribute to his meteoric rise, this reference won’t be made available to the public.

All models come in a wooden box, completed with a signed thank-you note from Haaland, underscoring the personal nature of the collaboration.

From his first appearance in the Norwegian second division at age 15 to becoming Manchester City’s record-breaking striker, Erling Haaland’s ascent has been anything but ordinary. His stats are the stuff of legend—Champions League hat-tricks, Bundesliga milestones, and a historic treble with City in his debut Premier League season.

Strong, fast, and clinically precise, Haaland embodies the same qualities that define the Chronomat: standout style, pinpoint precision, and total confidence in every moment—not to mention his meteoric speed on the pitch.

“Seeing this watch come to life was something else,” Haaland says. “The dial, the engravings, the initials—every detail told a part of my story. I’m excited for people to wear it and feel that same connection.”
