A. Lange & Söhne Showcases Watchmaking Excellence at the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. Once again, this year’s Concours of Elegance brought together some of the most remarkable automobiles in motoring history. During the prestigious classic-car gathering, A. Lange & Söhne unveiled a curated selection of exceptional timepieces, including two new models that highlight the enduring relationship between classic automobiles and precision timekeeping. A striking three-metre-high DATOGRAPH installation offered visitors an extraordinary perspective on the art of watchmaking.

Recognised as one of the most distinguished events in the global classic-car calendar, the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace has counted A. Lange & Söhne among its Presenting Partners since 2018. Set within the spectacular palace grounds, the event once again featured around 60 extraordinary classic vehicles, captivating collectors and enthusiasts from across the world.

The festivities concluded on Sunday with the presentation of the coveted ‘Best of Show’ award, which Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid awarded to the owner of a 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK Roadster. Mr Schmid also recognised the winner of the ‘Thirty Under 30’ category for a 1972 Lamborghini Espada. Through these awards, the German manufacture honours those dedicated to preserving iconic examples of automotive craftsmanship for future generations. Much like the mechanical watches produced by A. Lange & Söhne, these vehicles stand as enduring symbols of engineering brilliance, meticulous craftsmanship, and an unwavering pursuit of perfection.

The unique atmosphere of the Concours of Elegance provided an ideal backdrop for A. Lange & Söhne to present a selection of its distinctive timepieces, offering guests an exclusive insight into the world of the Saxon manufacture. Among the highlights were new versions of the TRIPLE SPLIT and the 1815 UP/DOWN, both revealed for the first time during the Concours weekend. With the capability to measure lap and comparative times for periods of up to twelve hours, the TRIPLE SPLIT, originally introduced in 2018, remains unmatched in contemporary watchmaking. The technical sophistication of this split-seconds chronograph, equipped with a flyback function and an elegantly engineered movement, is particularly impressive in its platinum execution. Limited to just 100 pieces, the new edition pairs a silver-toned dial with a 950 platinum case.

Alongside it, the latest 1815 UP/DOWN models are offered in 750 white gold and 750 pink gold. Inspired by historic Lange pocket watches and powered by a meticulously crafted manufacture calibre, the watch reflects the brand’s philosophy of continual progress. Its power-reserve display, reminiscent of a traditional fuel gauge, indicates the remaining energy stored within the mainspring. Each new edition is limited to 300 pieces, adding a fresh chapter to the celebrated collection.

A major attraction within the A. Lange & Söhne exhibition space was a giant DATOGRAPH model measuring more than three metres in height. Since the DATOGRAPH first appeared in 1999, the manufacture has introduced 13 innovative chronograph references, each powered by an exclusive in-house calibre and demonstrating Lange’s exceptional expertise in developing and producing sophisticated stopwatch mechanisms. While the oversized display highlighted the manufacture’s mechanical artistry on a grand scale, visitors were also offered a closer look at the precision and dedication involved in traditional finishing techniques. Guests could observe a skilled artisan engraving a balance cock by hand, creating the intricate floral motifs that make every Lange timepiece uniquely individual.
