The Butterfly Effect
The best and most successful collaborations are the ones that are born out of authentic affinities and talks. Such is the case of the new Chopard X Mariah Carey collaboration, which includes the exquisite butterfly creations manufactured by the Swiss powerhouse as part of the creative partnership with the legendary artist.
An epic poem in gemstones
In Beautés du Monde jewelry collection by Cartier, we recognize patterns, rhythms and proportions derived from the nature’s great creative lab which is a constant source of inspiration for the French jeweler. It is one of the most beautiful and complex haute joaillerie collections launched as of late, fully reaffirming the brand’s 175-year tradition and its eternally young creative force.
JAEGER-LECOULTRE PRESENTS THE RENDEZ-VOUS DAZZLING NIGHT & DAY WITH DIAMOND-SET DIALS
Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces two sparkling new expressions of the Rendez-Vous Dazzling Night & Day with a fully diamond-set dial complementing the two circles of diamonds that form the bezel – the Rendez-Vous Dazzling signature. One model is complemented by a vivid red alligator strap and the other by a pink gold bracelet entirely set with diamonds.
Shades of green
I’ve long been a fan of colored dials, from the vibrant semi-precious stones of the sixties to the many hues employed today in the watchmaking industry. While most of the time I am quite monochrome, I am also very much in favor of occasional splashes of color, which I find are perfect for the current gloomy mindset.
IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN OPENS ITS FIRST BOUTIQUE IN BERLIN
Located on Kurfürstendamm, the city’s famous shopping boulevard, it is designed as an open and welcoming
space where clients can discover the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer’s main collections. The so-called
Engineering Wall provides visitors with a deep-dive into the inner workings of IWC-manufactured movements
and complications. A comfortable bar and lounge area looking out on the lively boulevard completes the
visitor experience.
A Thriller Series
Someone once wrote that the watch industry is just like Hollywood; in cinemas and with watches, remakes are always popular. I was recently reminded of this film comparison when reading about the ongoing “Speedygate” scandal.
Greubel Forsey: Small sizes, big performance
The Swiss watchmaker presented the Balancier Convexe S² and the Double Balancier Convexe, both in slimmer case diameters. In creating more compact timepieces while preserving the harmony of their proportions and the architectural requirements of the movement, the house reviewed the construction of these two calibres.
Piaget: A neverending story
A constant presence in Piaget’s collection of jewels and jewelry watches, the rose is the symbol that this house values the most. They cast it in gold, decorate it with diamonds, engrave it on mother-of-pearl dials, carve it in precious stones or inlay it in marquetry – rarely will you come across so many rare artistic techniques put to the service of one obsession: the enthusiastic love for the Yves Piaget Rose.
A slender silhouette for a fantastic sports collection – Vacheron Constantin Overseas self-winding
When it comes to elegance in sports watches, the Overseas collection from Vacheron Constantin stands out. With clean and precise lines inspired by historical models, the Overseas is the go-to choice for both ladies and gentlemen collectors. Easily recognizable from afar for those in the know, it still remains fairly neutral for the large masses accustomed to more mainstream brands and models. This year, the Grande Maison has released two new, more delicate sizes: a 34.5mm version, available in steel and gold with a blue dial, and a gem-set 35mm version available in a pink gold case with a blue dial, and in a steel case with a pink dial.
LM Sequential Evo – The super chronograph
MB&F is the brand that I’ve probably written about the most in recent years, but I have been following it since its early days. 2022 brings a new innovation from Maximilian Büsser & Stephen McDonnell: a legacy machine dedicated to lovers of complicated mechanisms and high-speed sports.
