Panerai renewed its dynamic partnership with the Luna Rossa sailing team as Official Sponsor ahead of the 38th America’s Cup, staged for the first time on Italian waters in Naples under the gaze of Mount Vesuvius and beside a UNESCO World Heritage waterfront

To mark this milestone, the Maison unveils two new Luminor timepieces—the Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 and the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653—each engineered for peak performance in marine environments.

The Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 is a 44 mm limited edition of just 150 pieces, crafted in lightweight Grade 2 titanium to withstand harsh saltwater conditions without weighing down the wrist. Powered by Panerai’s in-house P.9100 automatic flyback chronograph calibre, it delivers a 72-hour power reserve and features a vertical clutch with column wheel for seamless start-stop-reset action—ideal for split-second nautical timing. A matte grey sandwich dial with Super-LumiNova X1 on indices and hands ensures legibility in any light, while red accents nod to the Luna Rossa emblem. The sapphire caseback reveals the movement’s architecture, and the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres.

In contrast, the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653 embraces a more traditional aesthetic in a 44 mm AISI 316LVM stainless-steel case renowned for its corrosion resistance. Inside, the hand-wound P.6000 calibre offers a three-day power reserve and stop-second mechanism for precise time setting. Its grey sandwich dial is punctuated by a small seconds subdial and a red Luna Rossa decal at 6 o’clock, while Super-LumiNova X1 guarantees clarity at depth. Both models ship on a black-and-grey bi-material strap with a signature red stripe and include an extra black rubber strap for versatile wear.

Despite their technical differences, the new PAM01654 and PAM01653 share key Luminor hallmarks: Panerai’s patented crown-protecting bridge ensures robust water tightness, and every component undergoes rigorous testing to meet the Maison’s exacting standards for reliability, durability and functionality in extreme marine settings. These timepieces embody Panerai and Luna Rossa’s shared ethos—pushing boundaries, embracing challenges, and celebrating the spirit of high-performance sailing.

As Panerai continues its pursuit of creating precision tools through cutting-edge research, innovative materials, and advanced technology, the sailing team charges ahead on its journey to conquer the apex of elite sailing sport, the America’s Cup.
