Five years after introducing the Classic Origin to commemorate its tenth anniversary, LAURENT FERRIER now returns to that original vision — a watch conceived to charm through measured restraint rather than ornamentation. To mark its fifteenth year, the Maison presents a fresh take on this cornerstone model: the Classic Origin Beige.

The new timepiece unites the familiar contours of the iconic 40 mm Classic case, its silhouette evoking a pebble smoothed by a river’s current. For the first time in the LF range, the Classic Origin reveals an unexpected sheen thanks to 5N red gold. This noble, warmly hued alloy, combined with a fresh beige dial, produces a watch that radiates both nostalgia and contemporary flair. Like a soft echo from bygone days, its warm, carefully balanced tones convey a gentle elegance that transcends eras while remaining alive to the present, a subtle dialogue between tradition and modernity.

More than any other model, the Classic Origin Beige captures the minimalist ethos so cherished by Laurent Ferrier. The beige dial, warmed by subtle undertones, beats in time with the brown railway track, central cross and hour‑marker transfers. Readability, a principle dear to the Geneva maison, is assured by the minute track punctuated with red numerals, which echo the accents on the small seconds at six o’clock. At the centre, the signature 18k gold Assegai hands sweep across the opaline surface with composed grace, as if intimately acquainted with the passage of time they indicate.

And then there is the crown — a detail that might seem secondary but is never merely decorative. Its rounded, bead‑like form speaks volumes: more than a hallmark, it is a deliberate choice. Laurent shaped it to be generous and welcoming so that winding the watch becomes not a routine task but a small, pleasurable ritual.

Beneath the sapphire caseback sits the LF116.01 calibre, a hand‑wound movement that forms the pulsating core of the Classic Origin Beige, finished with the same exacting care the Maison applies to all its calibres. At its heart, a screwed balance springs into action, regulated by a Breguet‑style overcoil hairspring. This combination is intentional: it improves precision, limits positional deviations and guarantees steady timekeeping so that every second passes with consistent accuracy.

The movement also conceals a detail prized by connoisseurs: the signature long‑blade ratchet pawl. Fully polished and chamfered by hand, it provides a distinctive tactile feedback when winding — a crisp, unmistakable click that sounds like the hallmark of great timepieces. When fully wound, the movement delivers a power reserve exceeding 80 hours.

Although the LF116.01 may seem more restrained than some of the Maison’s more intricate calibres, it maintains the same level of painstaking finishing. The bridges receive a sandblasted treatment and black rhodium coating, while every bevel is hand‑polished. By contrast, the mirror‑polished screws sparkle like tiny stars. The overall finishing, including the hand‑cut interior angle on the escapement bridge, testifies to the patient expertise of the workshop’s artisans. Every part is finished by hand; nothing is left to chance — not even what remains hidden. Rounding off the composition is a mocha nubuck strap lined with Alcantara. Its 5N red gold pin buckle mirrors the case’s warmth and refinement, carrying the spirit of the watch into the smallest detail.

The Classic Origin Beige is more than a timekeeper. It bears witness to a story that began fifteen years ago, distilling that heritage into the present. Above all, it affirms a quiet, enduring truth: certain kinds of beauty do not fade. They do more than endure time — they make time their own.
