Hublot has announced that the Big Bang 20th Anniversary King Gold Ceramic has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award for Product Design, a distinction that places the timepiece among the most accomplished examples of contemporary industrial design.

Selected by an international jury of design experts, the model stands out for its bold aesthetic, its integrated chronograph architecture and the technical mastery of Hublot’s in‑house Unico movement, a creation in which performance and design are conceived as a single, unified expression.

For Hublot, design begins with a mindset rooted in challenge, refinement and reinvention. The Big Bang 20th Anniversary King Gold Ceramic reflects two decades of this discipline, reinterpreting the original Big Bang codes through a fusion of past and present. Sadry Keiser, Hublot’s Chief Product Officer, emphasised this philosophy by noting that every material, every line and every movement serves a purpose, and that the award belongs to the teams who continue to push the brand’s vision forward. He added that the recognition marks a new step as Hublot enters the next chapter of the Big Bang Original Unico, one that is more integrated, more architectural and more essential, while remaining faithful to the identity of one of the most iconic collections of the twenty‑first century.

To appreciate the significance of this accolade, it is necessary to revisit the origins of Hublot’s disruptive spirit. In 1980, the brand shocked the industry by pairing a gold case with a rubber strap, a daring fusion that redefined the codes of luxury watchmaking. In 2005, the Big Bang reignited that revolution, transforming material fusion into modern alchemy and establishing a formula that would become a signature of the Manufacture. What began as a design became an icon, and in 2025 the Big Bang celebrated its twentieth anniversary. The King Gold Ceramic edition forms part of this milestone chapter, reinterpreting the original design DNA through the contemporary architecture of the Big Bang Unico. Crafted in Hublot’s exclusive King Gold, a warmer and richer alloy enhanced with platinum, and combined with high‑tech ceramic, the model embodies the brand’s unique expertise in material innovation.

The Red Dot distinction recognises not only the excellence of the anniversary model but also the evolution of a collection shaped by twenty years of innovation, risk and reinvention. It marks an anniversary, but not an ending. In 2026, the Big Bang enters a new era with the Big Bang Original and the Big Bang Reloaded, two interpretations that push integration, architecture and identity further while preserving the unmistakable character of the collection.

Hublot’s story has always been defined by the Art of Fusion. From the first porthole‑shaped bezel with exposed screws to partnerships with the UEFA Champions League, musicians, artists and Michelin‑starred chefs, the brand has extended its philosophy beyond watchmaking into a broader cultural universe. The Hublotistas, the global community of Hublot owners, embody this spirit through shared experiences that celebrate creativity, passion and innovation.

Central to the Big Bang identity is the Unico calibre, born in 2010 as Hublot’s first fully in‑house movement. Over the years, it has evolved into a bold and unmistakable signature of the brand, recognised for its robust construction and revolutionary chronograph design. With a front‑facing column wheel, a silicon escapement, an integrated flyback chronograph precise to one‑eighth of a second, a 72‑hour power reserve and an accuracy of –2/+4 seconds per day, the Unico is as visually striking as it is technically advanced. It incorporates five patented innovations, including dual oscillating clutches, an anti‑trembling system, a “zero friction” ratchet wheel blocker, a fine balance wheel adjustment system and a constant‑pressure friction system for the minute counter. All components are rigorously tested through Hublot’s Chronofiable® protocol to ensure optimal performance, reliability and precision. The Unico is not merely what powers the watch; it is what defines it.

From 2026 onwards, Hublot reinforces its commitment to technical excellence through an evolved warranty structure for eligible timepieces purchased from 1 January 2026. The new system offers a five‑year basic warranty, with the possibility of an additional five‑year extension through the Hublotista programme, provided the basic warranty is still active at the time of registration. This allows coverage of up to ten years, reflecting the brand’s confidence in its engineering and craftsmanship.
