Held in the Ritz Hotel in Paris, Cartier`s presentation was a perfectly tasteful and joyously over-the-top celebration of „la joie de vivre” in Cartier`s vision. Everything, from the scenery to the he displaying of the exceptional stones that set the room ablaze, made us fall in love (again) with de House`s creations. Diamonds, sapphires, jade, opals and tourmalines stole the show, proving that the venerable brand`s limitless imagination and wild creativity, that made them famous more than a century ago, is inexhaustible.

In search of the „beauté”
The quest for ”world beauties” is a ”true vocation inherited from the Cartier brothers, who travelled the world, observed, and drew inspiration from it in order to better reinvent it, taking care to always add their artistic touch and savoir-faire. Seeing the beauty of the world, preserving it, and above all, enriching it, is a passion that has continuously influenced the Maison’s philosophy”, the House stated. „From the perfect arrangement of a bird’s feathers to the abstraction of a traditional Japanese motif, Cartier never ceases to marvel at all the beauty in the world and convey it through its sumptuous and spirited High Jewellery creations,” such as the ones presented today.

“Always striving to enchant the senses, we transcribe the richness of cultures, landscapes, fauna, and flora with a contemporary outlook. Each collection represents an opportunity to reveal a new and distinctive aspect of the Cartier style, a unique multifaceted style,” says Jacqueline Karachi, Cartier`s Creative Director. But the jewels exposed spoke for theirselves…

THE OCELLE NECKLACE
Inspired by the most fascinating bird, the peacock, the ”Ocelle” from the Beautés du Monde collection reflects Louis Cartier`s passion for the Islamic arts, through which he perceived the power of blue and green. The discovery of this combination was so powerful that it became part of the Maison’s palette under the name of “peacock motif”, which soon became a Cartier signature. Two opals weighing 16.59 and 6.19 carats respectively, and a 21.18-carat Zambian emerald were chosen tot embellish the necklace, while the peacock’s plumage was recreated with the eyespots on the feathers which are miniaturized, multiplied and highlighted by an onyx trim. Also, the upper opal detaches to be worn as a brooch, making the jewel even more versatile.

THE OBI NECKLACE
The beauty of the world also lays in tradition, Cartier thinks, and ”Obi” is a tribute to Japanese culture, an inspiring land cherished by the Maison for more than a century. The exquisite ensemble was composed of eight cabochon-cut emeralds, including a 12.53-carat specimen from Zambia, while the gemstones were placed in the heart of the radiant motifs, linked together. The roundness of the cabochons contrasts with the motif’s geometry, which is punctuated by small calibrated rubies. Thanks to the very delicate custom-cut onyx inserts, the angles are marked, volumes accentuated, and the entire necklace gains depth. The ”Obi” follows Cartier’s tradition of transformable pieces, so the pendant motif detaches to be worn as a broochm when desired.
