In late May, we travelled to France, as Lifetime Magazine was invited to the exclusive launch of the new collection by Vacheron Constantin.
Spending three days in Paris and discovering the wonders of history through the eyes of the Swiss brand watchmakers was a privilege and honour.

Vacheron Constantin launched their new Métiers d’Art collection, paying homage to the Persian Empire of Darius the Great, the golden age of Ancient Egypt, the Hellenistic period of Ancient Greece and the rise to power of Augustus, the first Roman emperor. They embarked on this wonderful adventure in collaboration with The Louvre, host of these masterpieces sheltered inside the musesum, but also the host of the grandiose watch event.

The master artisans of the watch brand demonstrate once again the cultural, traditional, but also very modern and innovative approach of Vacheron Constantin, the impressive craftwork and the amazing skills needed in order to create the new quartet of watches proving why venerable Vacheron is at the forefront of haiute horlogerie, since 1755.

The new timepieces tell their stories, by presenting different enamelling techniques, hand engraving of gold, stone marquetry, metallisation engraving on sapphire crystal, in order to create stunning dials, symbols of each era.

All four watches are presented in 42mm pink or white gold cases and they are powered by the self-winding Manufacture Calibre 2460 G4/2. The particularity of the movement is that it has discs indicating the hours, minutes, days and dates.

This means four apertures for reading the time and calendar indications, symmetrically positioned around the dial periphery. It also represents the absence of hands on the dial and more space for the artisans to express their art. The watches offer 40 hours of power reserve.

When you turn back the watch you can admire a new proof of historical inspiration – an 18th-century lithograph of the east facade of the Louvre.

The four new watches are limited editions of five pieces each model, exclusively available through the Vacheron Constantin Boutiques, with price upon request.
