Panerai presents the Luminor Marina PAM01707, a model that bridges the brand’s ongoing exploration of advanced materials with the visual language established in the 1960s, the era that defined the Luminor aesthetic. The familiar architecture — the solid case, the signature crown‑protecting bridge, luminous numerals, and the characteristic sandwich dial — now appears in a 44 mm Carbotech™ case, a composite celebrated for its light weight, durability, and unique texture.

True to Panerai’s approach of blending historical identity with modern engineering, the PAM01707 offers a striking visual presence. Its 44 mm Carbotech™ case surrounds a deep black dial, where beige Super‑LumiNova® ensures clarity in all lighting conditions, complemented by a precise small‑seconds display. A supple vintage‑style calf leather strap reinforces the retro character, yet the watch remains firmly rooted in contemporary performance thanks to its high‑tech case material. Carbotech™ is produced by compressing layers of carbon fiber at controlled temperatures and high pressure, combined with PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), a high‑performance polymer that strengthens the composite and improves longevity. The resulting plates deliver exceptional strength‑to‑weight performance: the material is 64% lighter than titanium and 80% lighter than steel, offering comfort on the wrist while retaining impressive mechanical resilience and superior corrosion resistance — ideal for underwater use. Its matte, irregular black surface varies with each cut, giving every watch a subtly different appearance.

Inside the PAM01707 beats the P.9010 automatic calibre, engineered for daily dependability and autonomy. At 6 mm thick and composed of 200 parts, it features 31 jewels, twin barrels, and a three‑day power reserve. The barrels store enough energy for 72 hours of running time, while the bidirectional automatic winding system uses two reversing wheels to efficiently convert rotor movement into stored energy.

The P.9010 integrates several precision‑oriented features. The stop‑seconds mechanism halts the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out, enabling exact time setting — a direct nod to Panerai’s military past, when precise synchronization was essential for naval operations and professional diving. The quick time‑change system allows the hour hand to jump forward or backward in one‑hour increments without disturbing the minute hand or stopping the movement, making it ideal for adjusting to new time zones. A balance bridge secured on both sides enhances stability, while four gold screws on the balance wheel allow fine regulation of inertia for long‑term accuracy.
