From the colourful dials in the 1970s to the groundbreaking movements finished with striking tones in its recent creations, ZENITH explored the wheel of colous in new and creative ways. Today, eight color versions of the DEFY 21 stand as a proof that not even sky is the limit for the watchmaker.

The DEFY 21 was the first model to host ZENITH’s groundbreaking El Primero 1/100th of a second chronograph movement, a timepiece expressing ZENITH’s notion of high-frequency precision through frequencies of light and colours. It all started with the DEFY 21 Ultraviolet in 2020, which established a new design code for the DEFY 21 which ZENITH is now fully expressing with the Ultra Colour box set.

The Ultra Colour pieces are actually eight different colour versions of the DEFY 21watch and they come in boxes that are limited to only eight sets (available exclusively from ZENITH physical and online boutiques around the world), all crafted in entirely matte finished lightweight titanium, maintaining the style of the existing Defy 21 range and allowing the chromatics to shine from within.

The open dial of the watch features raised chronograph counters matching the grey tone of the case, allowing the vibrant metallic colours of the movement to be seen when shifting with the light, enhancing the sense of volume and dynamism of this exquisite vibrant collection.

You can easily observe that the bridges and the oscillating rotor of the eight watches in the set are finished in eight striking colourways: black, blue, violet, orange, pink, green, turquoise and khaki. The cordura-effect rubber straps are also made to match the colours of the movement.

The singular El Primero 21 automatic high-frequency 1/100th of a second chronograph is visible through the dial, as well as the sapphire case back, featuring two independent regulating organs and gear trains for the timekeeping and chronograph functions, operating at frequencies of 5Hz (36’000 VpH) and 50Hz (360’000 VpH)

The DEFY 21 Ultra Box set is delivered in a transparent acrylic presentation case, with an iridescent effect that allows light to display different colours in every angle. Each of the watches is engraved on the case back with a limited edition number out of 8, and each box set will feature watches that are sequentially numbered from 1 to 8.
