The top of the most expensive watches available at the moment is dominated by pieces whose million-worth price is solely justified by the ingenious mechanisms and the exclusivity of an extremely limited production.

Schaffhausen, 8 September 2017 – IWC Schaffhausen presents two of its most popular Portugie­ser models in fashionable blue: for the first time, the Swiss watchmaking company is launching the Portugieser Automatic and the Portugieser Chronograph with a stainless-steel case and blue dial.

I must admit – I am one of those people who believe it was better in the past. What does “the past” mean? Sometimes, when I am very disappointed with what is happening today, I go as far back as the Middle Ages. Most of the time, however, when I am at my ordinary level of dissatisfaction with these strange times in which we live, “the past” is the period between the Belle Epoque and the ’50s.
