The Clifton Club Burt Munro Tribute Limited Edition
This year, a new timepiece is unveiled by the Swiss watchmaker, Baume & Mercier. Inspired by its partnership with Indian Motorcycle, America’s First Motorcycle Company, the international watch brand created The Clifton Club Burt Munro Tribute Limited Edition, a watch that honors the motorcycle racing legend and kickstarts this lifestyle partnership.
Million-worth complications
The top of the most expensive watches available at the moment is dominated by pieces whose million-worth price is solely justified by the ingenious mechanisms and the exclusivity of an extremely limited production.
CLASSIC PORTUGIESER TIMEPIECES – NOW ALSO IN BLUE
Schaffhausen, 8 September 2017 – IWC Schaffhausen presents two of its most popular Portugieser models in fashionable blue: for the first time, the Swiss watchmaking company is launching the Portugieser Automatic and the Portugieser Chronograph with a stainless-steel case and blue dial.
Transparent mechanics
The skeletonization technique removes any unnecessary millimeter from the structure of a movement and creates real works of art.
Vintage is the keyword
I must admit – I am one of those people who believe it was better in the past. What does “the past” mean? Sometimes, when I am very disappointed with what is happening today, I go as far back as the Middle Ages. Most of the time, however, when I am at my ordinary level of dissatisfaction with these strange times in which we live, “the past” is the period between the Belle Epoque and the ’50s. That is where I firmly stop.
Rectangular Legends
Although the idea of a watch makes you automatically think of a round shape, there are also exceptions. Square and rectangular cases will always hold important positions in the top of the most representative models in the history of horlogery.
Le Grand Bleu
Blue is the colour of the year in watchmaking. I know that Pantone decreed that greenery holds this title in 2017, but at the annual watch fairs in Basel and Geneva, almost all the brands have chosen deeper or lighter shades of blue for their dials, meant to symbolize elegance, the sky, and hope. The pictorial in our present issue of Lifetime magazine takes you on a journey among the most beautiful blue dials of the year.
Engineered passion
The connection between cars and watches was established the very first moment when people planned to use engines to compete with time. Today, we are witnessing too many connections between watchmaking and motoring and hardly any partnerships that really make a difference.
